Prior to making the move to Hawaii and beginning to surf, she first started surfing when she was just five years old. at the age of 6, she won a surf contest with a used board that she found in a trash can outside the house. She began surfing in the age of five and at 6 she was the winner of the first competition. By seven, she was a sponsor. Born in San Clemente California but later moved to Hawaii. In the age of 16, Ashley competed on NSSA National championship. In 2003, she received the Triple Crown Award for Rookie of the Year. In 2003, Ashley clinched the Professional Surfing Tour of America Championship as well as Two National Scholastic Surfing Association titles. Ashley has won the 2009 Pipeline Women's Pro in Hawaii.
